New Year, Old Me

Why New Year's resolutions never work and what to do about it

I have never been a fan of new year’s resolutions.

Why?

Because they don’t work.

There is no single moment that changes your trajectory.

There are only tiny moments every day that compound over time.

But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t strive to be better.

Better 1% every day, instead of going to the gym for the next 2 weeks and then dropping it again.

Consistency > Intensity

Start whenever the heck you want, but make sure you keep going.

For example, in September last year, I picked up a habit called “time betting“.

I bet poker chips (one for each hour of the day) on one of 4 different areas:

  1. Relationships (Time with spouse and other Founders, Partners)

  2. Execution (Getting shit done)

  3. Strategy (Thinking about which shit to get done)

  4. Management (Making sure shit gets done)

It completely changed the way I allocate time and work.

It took a good 3 months and constant effort in the morning to make it happen daily.

I don’t get more done, but I do the most important things.

Now I can go into 2025 and make it the best year ever.

So far ;)

What’s a habit you’ve been working on?

I’m eager to hear about it.

Talk Soon,
Stefan

P.S. Never stop your self-improvement journey 🤝
